FIDIC

FIDIC stands for the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, which is an international organization that represents consulting engineering associations from around the world. FIDIC is renowned for its development and promotion of standard forms of contracts for the construction industry.

FIDIC contracts are widely used in international construction projects and provide a framework for the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of the parties involved, including the employer (client), the contractor, and the engineer. These contracts aim to establish fair and balanced conditions for all parties and to address common issues that arise during construction projects.

FIDIC Contracts

FIDIC Red Book

This contract is typically used for construction projects where the employer assumes most of the design responsibility. The contractor is responsible for executing the works in accordance with the employer’s requirements.

FIDIC Yellow Book

The Yellow Book is commonly used for projects where the contractor takes on more design responsibility. It is suitable for projects involving the supply and installation of plant, as well as design and construction works.

FIDIC Silver Book

This contract is specifically designed for projects where the contractor takes full responsibility for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) or turnkey projects. The contractor is responsible for delivering the project to the employer ready for operation.

FIDIC Green Book

The Green Book is a simplified contract suitable for smaller or less complex projects. It provides a condensed version of the main FIDIC contract provisions, offering a streamlined approach.
